Frequently Asked Questions

Health Coaching is still a fairly new practice and while it’s extremely beneficial, it’s sometimes misunderstood.

Hopefully these can answer a few more commonly asked questions, but I’m happy answer any other questions you may have. Just reach out!

What IS a Health Coach? (And what it isn’t)

I describe myself as the “missing link” between your healthcare provider and your own accountability. Oftentimes we are diagnosed with X, Y or Z, given an Rx along with some doctorly advise and sent on our way to fend for ourselves. It’s not that your doctor doesn’t care about you, but he or she lacks the time needed to properly guide you along your path to better health and/or recovery. Or maybe you just want to lose those stubborn pounds and have tried everything under the sun to no avail. These are the types of situations where I step in. I will suggest and share ideas, offer guidance and support you in your personal health betterment.

What I won’t do is diagnose a disease, prescribe meds or “cure what ails you”. I don’t provide a quick fix. You are your own most important investment and together we put in the time and effort it takes for you to grow yourself greater.

What can I expect from our relationship?

In a word? Transformation. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t looking for some kind of change, and that’s what I help you find, whatever that looks like for you. We start by exploring your vision. Think of it like storywriting, and this is your story, with a beginning, a middle and an end and that’s how my packages are planned. Sometimes the storyline is obvious and other times it requires a little more finesse – a little more digging to grow. From seed to root to blossom, our relationship is a partnership in your personal growth and health development. Planning and projecting your purpose, we will transform your life.

What do you mean by “Holistic”?

Holistic healthcare simply approaches the WHOLE body to improve our wellness. Modern western medicine (like we have here in the States) is primarily deficit-based, focusing on the “problem” of a condition or “dis-ease”. While we are not replacing your doctor visit, we are supplementing it. In holisitic practice, we observe, evaluate and improve your physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing. Our wellness model takes a positive-based approach to better health and a balanced, happy life! Now who doesn’t want that?

What does it mean to be Board Certified?

In collaboration with the National Board of Medical Examiners, the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching created a robust certification that professionalized our field. Earning an NBC-HWC credential and becoming a board-certified coach represents the profession’s highest standard, setting me apart in the functional medical field. Clients and medical practices know that I have the tools and training needed to be a practicing health coach including all of the necessary education, training, tools, and assessments.
